About Chinese calendar

The traditional Chinese calendar is lunisolar: every month begins with the new moon, and a leap month keeps the New Year between January 21 and February 20.

Years follow a 60-year cycle of ten heavenly stems and twelve earthly branches – best known as the twelve zodiac animals from the Rat to the Pig.

China uses the Gregorian calendar in daily life, but the traditional calendar sets festivals such as the Spring Festival, Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival.
